You searched your own clinic in ChatGPT and it named someone else. This post shows why that happens and what actually changes it.

Written for owners of aesthetic clinics, salons and other local businesses in Singapore. Not for SEO agencies.

Key takeaways

  • AI tools repeat what is published. If nothing about you exists off your own website, there is nothing to repeat.
  • Your Google rank is not the same as your AI answer. Two different jobs. Many clinics do the first and skip the second.
  • One page on your site is not enough. AI trusts names it sees on many sites, with recent dates.
  • You can check this yourself in two minutes. The self-check below tells you how bad it is.

What the AI is actually doing

When someone asks ChatGPT for “a good aesthetic clinic in Bukit Timah”, it does not look at your website and judge it. It looks for pages that already say you are a good aesthetic clinic in Bukit Timah. Directories, news sites, guides, videos, podcasts. Then it repeats the names that come up most.

That is the whole game. Not persuasion. Repetition.

Said plainly

AI does not discover businesses. It quotes the internet back to the person asking. If the internet is quiet about you, so is the AI.

How we know

On 17 September 2026 we searched “the best neck pain specialist” in a private browser window in Singapore. Doctors, surgeons and hospitals own this search. Google’s AI Overview listed Dr Neck Pain, a chiropractic clinic we work with, second in its top options. It sits above a medical pain clinic and a private hospital group.

The guide we published for the clinic at the start of September is one of the three sources Google shows beside the answer. The same page ranks number 2 in the normal results, shown in the second screenshot. No other chiropractor appears on the first two pages.

The principle

You cannot be recommended by an AI before you are published somewhere it reads.

Every other tactic sits under this. Better copy, faster site, more reviews: they help once other sites are talking about you. They do nothing on their own.

Why rank and recommendation split apart

For years the goal was the click. Rank high, get the click, get the call. AI answers skip the click. They name two or three businesses and the person acts on that. So a clinic can hold page one on Google and still be invisible in the answer.

So what makes an AI name one clinic and skip another? It comes down to a short list.

✓ What gets a clinic named

  • Being written about on sites the AI already trusts
  • The same sentence about you, repeated on many sites
  • Recent dates, so the AI treats it as current
  • One clear answer per page, not five

✗ What does nothing

  • A prettier homepage
  • Another blog post nobody links to
  • Keyword stuffing from 2015
  • Waiting for it to “settle down”

One habit to drop

Checking your rank on Google and calling it done. Open ChatGPT and ask what your customer would ask. Whether it names you is the result that matters now.

Two ways to get there

You can do this yourself, or have it done for you. Both work. The difference is speed.

Option 1 · Do it yourself

Publish on your own site and wait

Write helpful posts, post on social, ask for reviews. It works slowly, and only if other sites eventually pick you up.

  • Best for owners with time and a writer in-house
  • Where it stops it is still only you talking about you
Option 2 · Get published everywhere at once

One campaign, published on hundreds of sites

Article, video, podcast, slideshow and news wire, all pointing at one answer, all dated this month. These are places you already know: Google News, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, LinkedIn, Medium and established news sites. Not link farms or junk directories. This is the method behind MultiCasting.

  • Best for clinics that want the AI answer to change this quarter
  • Where it stops it will not fix a bad offer or a slow front desk

How the two paths compare on the things that move an AI answer.

What the AI weighsOwn site onlyPublished everywhereWhy it matters

What changes the answer

The fix is simple to describe. It is four steps, and you can do the first one today.

  1. Ask the question yourselfOpen ChatGPT, Gemini and Google. Ask what your best customer would ask. Write down who is named.
  2. Pick the one thing you want to be known forFor example: “the Tampines clinic that treats acne scars with Pico laser”. Say what you do and where you do it. You don’t need to call yourself the best, and a medical clinic shouldn’t. One sentence. Everything we publish repeats it.
  3. Publish it in many places, dated this monthArticle, video, podcast, slideshow, news. The same sentence, in the same month.
  4. Ask again in 30 daysAsk the same questions and compare. Then do it again next month. AI answers change when new pages about you keep appearing.

Who this works fastest for

It works for most local businesses. It moves quickest when these are true.

  • You have one thing you do besta treatment or a problem you want to be the name for
  • You have reviews alreadyAI checks the names it finds against review sites
  • You can name a districtlocal answers are easier to win than national ones

What the first three months look like

If we run it for you, this is the rhythm.

  1. Month 1: See where you standWe ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google the questions your customers ask, and write down who they name. We agree the one thing you want to be known for. Then we publish it everywhere.
  2. Month 2: Publish again, then ask againA second round goes out. We ask the AI tools the same questions and check if your name has started to show up.
  3. Month 3: Compare and decideA third round goes out. We put month 1 and month 3 side by side, so you can see the change yourself. Then we choose what you should be known for next.

Do you need schema and technical fixes first?

This comes up on almost every call I take. Someone has been told they need schema markup, an llms.txt file or a full technical audit before AI will notice them.

What I tell owners on calls

Technical fixes are a small lever. AI tools read the open internet without asking anyone’s permission. They don’t need a special file on your site to find you. If your site loads and Google can read it, you have done most of the technical work that matters for a local business.

Technical work pays off for huge sites with millions of visitors, where a small gain is worth a lot of money. For a clinic or a local shop the big lever is different: being written about, in many places, month after month. I add schema to my own posts because it takes a minute. It is not what gets a business named.

So keep your web person. Just don’t let a list of fixes stand in for the real work.

If you hire anyone for this, watch for four things

More agencies now sell “AI visibility”. Some of it is real. Four warning signs tell you when it is not.

  • A vendor promises “guaranteed #1 in ChatGPT”. Nobody controls what the AI says. Being published widely raises your odds. It does not buy the answer.
  • They start with a long technical audit. A list of fixes looks like progress. For a local business it rarely changes who the AI names.
  • They promise to automate hundreds of posts for you. Mass-produced content tends to jump for a short time and then drop. Good content, published steadily over months, is what lasts.
  • Everything they publish sits on one website. To the AI that is one voice, however many pages it has.

Not sure how much of this applies to you? Take two minutes and check.

2-minute self-check

Is AI sending your customers elsewhere?

Tick any that sound like you. A result appears as soon as one is true.

Early signs

You are not invisible yet, but the gap is opening. Run the two-minute audit and see where you stand.

You are losing the AI answer

Three of four. Competitors are being named in your place. The free audit shows you exactly who.

AI does not know you exist

All four. This is fixable, but not by waiting. Start with the free audit, so we both know where you stand today.

AI visibility is one part of getting customers, and it may not be your first problem. Four quick questions show you where to start.

Interactive

Where should your clinic start?

Someone messages your clinic at 9pm. Do they get a reply within minutes?

Is either of these true right now?

Tick any that apply. If one is true you get your result straight away.

Search your main treatment on Google Maps in your area. Are you missing from the top 3?

Ask ChatGPT for a clinic like yours in your area. Does it name you?

Start with the enquiries you already get

More visibility would send more people into the same gap. We close that gap for you. Booked. answers every enquiry in seconds and books it into your calendar. Revived. brings your old leads back, and you pay per appointment. Once that runs, we turn up the visibility.

The clinic owners I speak to are usually surprised the first time they ask ChatGPT about themselves. Most have never done it. That two minutes changes the whole conversation.

Questions owners ask

Does this replace SEO?

No. It sits beside it. SEO gets you the click on Google. Being published widely gets you named by AI. You want both, and the second is the one most clinics have never worked on.

How long before the AI answer changes?

It depends on the AI tool and on how busy your market is. We ask the same questions every 30 days and compare, so you see the change instead of guessing.

I run a medical clinic. Is this safe under Singapore’s advertising rules?

We write it to stay on the safe side, and you stay in control. What we publish is educational and factual: what a treatment is, who it suits and what to expect. No before-and-after photos. No “best clinic” claims. No patient stories about results. You approve the topics, and you can ask for changes before anything goes out. Your licence is yours, so your own compliance check always has the last word.

Do I need schema or an llms.txt file to show up in AI?

No. AI tools can read your site without them. Schema is quick to add and does no harm, so add it if your web person offers. What gets a business named is being published in many places, not a file on its own site.

Can I do this myself?

Yes, slowly. The hard part is getting published on sites that are not yours, as articles, videos and podcasts, every month. That is the part people pay for.

What if my clinic is in a small niche?

Small niches are easier. Fewer competitors means fewer pages to beat. Local plus niche is the fastest win we see.

Be the name AI gives.

A short call. We look at your audit together and map the first month.
